Farmer and horse enthusiast Sally Williams was the lucky winner of Your Horse Magazine’s competition to win a set of our Opal Horse clippers.

Sally farms near Craven Arms in Shropshire and keeps six horses including two hunters, an ex race horse, and Irish Cob, a home bred sports horse and child’s Shetland.

“I’ve always had horses and my daughter has grown up riding. Sadly, I don’t get to ride as much as I would like to these days but it doesn’t stop the need to keep the horses in good condition, so these clippers will definitely come in handy,” she said.

Already a fan of the Heiniger brand, her and her daughter have shared a set of Xplorer clippers for the last few years.

“The Xplorer clippers have been faultlessly reliable and are much quieter than other clippers we’ve used in the past. The battery also lasts longer. I never thought in a month of Sunday’s that I would win the competition, and I haven’t won anything anywhere near as good as these Opal Horse clippers in my life, they are amazing,” she said.

Clipping her Irish Cob has always been a hard job for clippers because the coat is so thick, but her Heiniger clippers have done the job well and kept the horse calm throughout.

“They are so quiet that even the thorough bred horses, which are normally twitchy, react well to them. I gather the new Opal Horse is even quieter, so that will make the job even easier,” she said.

Sally’s daughter lives on a dairy farm and her husband also uses the Xplorer clippers on the herd to clip around the cow’s tails.

“Our clippers are rarely left alone for long. If we are not hogging or clipping the horses they come in handy elsewhere, so having a new set is going to make life much easier. Winning the Opal Horse clippers made my Christmas and new year, so I want to say a big thank you to Your Horse Magazine and Heiniger for giving me the opportunity,” she said.
